101.9 For Life (DWRR 101.9 MHz Metro Manila) is the flagship FM station of the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation in the Philippines. Acquired by ABS-CBN in 1986, it is broadcast live throughout the Philippine archipelago as well as throughout the world via The Filipino Channel (TFC). The studios located at ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, Mo.Ignacia St., Quezon City. Its transmitter is located along Sumulong Highway, Antipolo, Rizal.

The station’s call letters (DWLS) were derived from the name Loreto, wife of former GMA (then RBS) owner, the late Robert “Uncle Bob” Stewart

In 1998, 101.1 relaunched as YES FM! with a different callsign. It has the same format as 90.7 Love Radio. They relocated the station at the Star City Complex in Pasay, Philippines and in 2008, 101.1 YES! FM became automated and plays on spinners 24 hours a day but still having any DJ’s and adopts a slogan Automatic ‘Yan! YES! FM.

Love Radio was previously known by its call letters DZMB when it began broadcasts on the FM band in 1973 from its first broadcast days on the AM band. Back then, it played mainstream pop, later gravitating to easy listening music. As DZMB, it also introduced and institutionalized the deep-voiced radio announcer Dante Luzon, which later became its station manager up to the time that the station reformatted to this present programming.

In 2006, an unknown radio station set-off broadcasting in Metro Manila with the power of 500 watts on 107.9MHz FM. The station played nothing but underground club music… No call sign. No jocks. Just a stinger saying “You’re tuned to Underground Radio”, as well as a recorded female voiceover mentioning a mobile number that served as a request line in between queues.

But with hundreds of text messages being received daily and with the station being the hot topic on dozens of blog sites on the internet, the station’s movers and shakers knew that the people were tuning in.

Skeptics say that the radio industry cannot survive this age of internet, ipods, and podcasts where news and information is just a click away. But DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 proved them all wrong! Ironically, thanks to these new and emerging technologies, the seemingly outdated AM radio arrived to its rebirth in this iPod generation.

The station began broadcasts in 1973 (when the Philippines was under Martial Law) as DWLL-FM, The Mellow Touch, one of the pioneer FM stations that do not have disc jockeys in their programming that rely entirely on taped voiceover (now the famous television newscaster Mike Enriquez[citation needed]) to segue between songs.

Mellow Touch’s predominantly easy listening format gradually went down with the restoration of democratic rule in 1986, until just over 5 years ago, it started to accommodate on-air jocks and began to play largely pop alternative songs in-between the standard love songs. Today, to emphasize this shift in programming, it has changed their station title to just plain Mellow 947 (“ninety-four-seven”). Its programs now generally aim to bring out the mellow side of rock music fans.
